Delete your account or data
Last updated: September 6, 2026
You can delete your Bellynote account and everything in it, or remove specific data and keep using Bellynote. This page covers both, walks through exactly what gets removed, and explains the few things we have to hold on to for a short while afterward.
The quickest way to close your account: open Bellynote on your phone and go to Settings, then Danger Zone, then Delete Account. Your account and data are removed right away, with no need to contact us.
Removed the app already, or can't sign in? There's an email request below. To take out only certain entries or details without closing your account, see Delete specific data and keep your account.
Delete everything and close your account
From the app
- Open Bellynote and sign in.
- Go to Settings, then Danger Zone, then Delete Account.
- Confirm when the app asks you to.
That's it. Your login is removed and your data is deleted as a result. Nothing else is needed from you.
By email
If you've removed the app or can't get into your account, email us and we'll take care of it for you.
Email an account deletion request
Send it from the email address on your Bellynote account so we can confirm the request is really yours, and put "Delete my account" in the subject line. If you write from a different address, we may ask you a couple of questions to verify it before we delete anything.
We complete the deletion within 30 days of a verified request, and usually much sooner. We'll email you once it's done.
Delete specific data and keep your account
To remove certain things without closing your account, you can do most of it yourself in the app:
- Individual logs. Open any meal, symptom, or activity from your timeline and tap Edit or Delete. It's removed right away.
- Tags and food groups. Edit them on the log they belong to.
- Photos. Deleting a meal or ingredient label entry also deletes the photos attached to it.
- Imported period data. Period and menstrual-flow entries synced from Apple Health or Health Connect sit in your timeline like any other log, so you can edit or delete them there. To stop future imports, turn sync off under Settings, then Cycle Tracking.
- Profile details. Update or clear your name and other profile details under Settings.
For anything you can't remove yourself, including your AI chat history, email us and tell us exactly what to delete.
Send it from your account's email address so we can verify the request. We'll take care of it within 30 days, and usually much sooner. Your account and the rest of your data stay as they are.
What closing your account removes
Everything tied to your account, including:
- Your profile: email address, name, birthday, and profile photo.
- Every meal, symptom, and activity you've logged, along with their notes, severity ratings, and timestamps.
- Tags and food group information on those logs.
- Photos you captured or uploaded for analysis, including meal, ingredient label, and barcode photos.
- Your chat history with the in-app AI assistant.
- Period and menstrual-flow entries imported from Apple Health or Health Connect.
- Push notification tokens and your in-app preferences.
- Your authentication record, so the login stops working immediately.
Closing your account is permanent. We can't recover any of this once it's gone, so if you want to keep a copy of your history, export or screenshot it before you start.
What we keep, and for how long
After a deletion, whether it's your whole account or specific data, a small amount of information sticks around for a while, either because it sits in a system we can't scrub instantly or because the law requires us to keep it:
| What | Why | How long |
|---|---|---|
| Encrypted database backups | Disaster recovery | Purged on our normal backup rotation, typically within 30 days |
| Diagnostic and crash data (Sentry) | Keeping the app stable | Rolls off automatically after roughly 90 days |
| Subscription and purchase records (RevenueCat, Apple, Google) | Tax, accounting, and audit requirements | Kept as long as those rules require |
| Records tied to a legal request or dispute | Legal obligation | Only as long as needed to resolve it |
None of this is used for anything beyond the purpose listed. We don't sell your information, and we never use your health or symptom data for advertising. Our Privacy Policy has the full picture.
